Earlier on this year Harley Davidson reported on its first quarter results, which were very positive. Even in a downturn the American Motorcycle manufacturer was able to report positive growth. Profits were $119m which equates to £73m for the first quarter of 2011, compared to $68m a year ago. The company put the growth down to its in house financial services selling more services.
In the first quarter 49,597 new Harley-Davidson motorcycles were sold across the globe, up from 47,925 compared to the same time period last year. When announcing these positive figures the company also highlighted that the rest of the year will be very difficult. Its 3rd quarter results are due in the next couple of weeks.
